Sorting Cans

The other day we cleaned out the pantry and I decided to give the kids a job too.  I gave them a tub full of canned goods and had them sort them into groups: meat, vegetables, fruits, soups.  They put dot stickers on the cans to keep track of them.  All the fruits were green, soups were black, vegetables were yellow, etc.  Once they had sorted them, we counted how many in each group, talked about more, less, and equal.  Then we put them back into the cupboard.  At the end the kids got practice sorting, and I got my pantry a little more organized!

I think my next project will be the front closet… sorting shoes and coats, big and little!  Endless possibilities.  Happy sorting!!
