Cooling Off with Ice
It is still pretty hot here, so the kids and I have been trying to stay cool outside. It has given us an excuse to eat lots of popsicles and play with ice. One day I thought it’d be fun to make ice sculptures out of colored ice cubes. It really was fun, each kid had a tray and they made what they wanted. The only trouble was, it was so hot, the ice melted very quickly. If we did it again, we would use bigger containers and freeze and color those (like margarine tubs)…but all in all it was a lot of fun. We also learned a lot about how fast ice melts. We put the cubes on different surfaces (deck, concrete, grass) to see which one melted the fastest, and then also tried it in the shade. Isaiah really enjoyed learning all about the ice!
