To keep our kids focused on God and the birth of His son, Jesus, this Christmas season, we decided to focus on one attribute of God each day. The kids and I are making an ornament to go on a large paper tree they each made. We are also reading scripture that pertains to that attribute. I wish this were all my great ideas, but the idea came from a blog impressyourkids.org. We changed some things and made it our own, but I have to give her credit for this great idea. Here is a look at day one.
Today we learned about how God doesn’t change. We made a list of things that change, and things that don’t. The only thing we came up with that never changes is God. The kids tried hard to come up with something, even a rock or a picture…but even those things fade and change. God is the same today as He was yesterday. What an awesome blessing to serve a God who we can trust to be the same! To demonstrate this for the kids we made a popcorn strand to hang outside. The popcorn changes as we pop it, then it is hung outside, and it will change more when the weather changes or birds come to feast on the snack. This is a reminder outside our window that many things change, but God does not.
